Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

It has been a tiring day. Marty's flight to Alaska left at 9:30am which meant an early wake up call of 6am for me, not a good thing when bedtime the previous night was after 2am.

I went to my parent's house after saying goodbye to Marty and they took me out to breakfast. A very delicious bonus...they gave me fresh salmon from my dad's fishing trip to Alaska. Dad just returned from there and Marty is just arriving. Dad went for fishing, Marty went for work. Geez, aren't there any good paying jobs in Tacoma for a Systems Analyst so Marty doesn't have to travel to Alaska for a contract job?

His last trip there it seemed as if the house was against me. I swear it has a mind. Just like the movie "The Money Pit". something goes wrong, we try to fix it and then find out the problem involves so much more. A typical old house.

This week Marty replaced the bathroom sink, put a new toilet in, fixed the bathtub drain (it still has a tiny leak that I can resolve myself) and fixed the kitchen faucet that wouldn't shut off completely. I am optimistic that nothing will go wrong during Marty's away time.

My goal while he is away: replace the worn 70's style linoleum on the bathroom floor. The uneven odd shaped bathroom floor. I am looking forward to the challenge so I can say, "There you go old house! I won this round with you."

Tried to nap this afternoon, cats on the bed. Yeah, try to sleep with cat whiskers tickling your face and on a hot afternoon, the heat of cat bodies totally entombing you. I did get an hour nap and although it was intermittent sleep, I got up refreshed.

The photo is Riley. Imagine him sleeping above your head or on your chest as you try to nap on a very warm day in addition to several cats wanting to be near your face. Only cat lovers can relate.
