Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

A Magpie Scare Today

Magpie is not the bird. Magpie is one of our cats. She is four years old and has severe asthma. She received her daily pill this morning and then started hacking and wheezing. I was afraid she aspirated her pill into a lung like she had done once before. That episode required a quick trip to her Dr., oxygen, IV fluids and a hospital stay of three days.

I thought she might need the quick trip to the Vet. again today. But after hacking for a few minutes, Magpie relaxed and seemed normal. Of course I kept a close eye on her for two hours before I had to leave for work in case I had to take her in with me (I work at the Vet. Hospital), but she was fine. Whew!

Work at the Vet. Hospital today was pretty quiet. A pit bull was scheduled to come in for a nail trim. His record said "Sedate to muzzle". That is not a good thing because it means the owners themselves are unable to muzzle their pet which alerts us that it is a very aggressive dog. Sedation just to apply the muzzle, we were all dreading that appointment. Fortunately for us, the owner called and cancelled. Everyone at the hospital danced with joy. We do not like having to handle those extremely aggressive dogs. I do not like green eggs and ham.

It was a tough day for me. I went to bed at midnight the previous night, but woke every hour and even at 4AM thought I should just get up and start my day. Naw, tossed and turned until the alarm went off at 6AM. What kept me awake was a feeling.

I am not nuts. I have seen two ghosts here since we moved in eight years ago. Marty hasn't seen them but has felt them touch his back or shoulder. My feeling last night was of restlessness, something I always feel before I see the ghost. I am not nuts.
