Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Less Work, Finally

This is our clinic cat "Talker", nickname "Fat Boy", resting on cat steps that were temporarily left on the counter. I had to take this photo of him because it was exactly how I felt ...so tired I had to drag my weary body to bed slowly making my way up the stairs to the bedroom.

The previous day I began work at 7AM walking dogs in the rain and wind. Brrrr, it was cold and very wet. That day ended at 8:30PM. The next day my hours were 9AM to 7PM. A lunch break where I can actually sit down? I choose to eat as I work, not wanting to take the half hour off the floor because I will have to do double speed to catch up on work duties.

Since last November, I have been working six days each week clocking in 40+ hours, much more than my previous schedule of a luxurious mere16 hours. Last week I worked 65 hours, this week 59.

Today was the last day of the horrendous schedule. YAAAY!!! Nicki, our new Vet. Asst. has started and I now get two days off and about 38 hours each week. More hours than I want, but I am very happy to get back to a life where I am at home more than at work.

I look forward to having the time to bask in a bath just like Tipper, one of our neighborhood strays who enjoys lying in our birdbath, except mine will be filled with warm water up to my neck. We have a deep tub, long enough to stretch out my legs and vegetate into a state of bliss.
