Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Birthday

Sunday was mom-in-law's birthday. She is 75. Marty and I went to visit but there was no answer at the door because Rusty took her to dinner at Red Lobster. We left our gift in the doorway. Later that evening mom called and said she was very happy to come home to the gift.

It was just a box of sugar free Whitman's chocolates and a package of the lemon/mint lozenges that she likes. Mom loves sweets but being diabetic needs to watch her sugar level. It was difficult to find a birthday card for her. They are all so not meeting the words of a birthday celebration for a mother who just lost her husband after 57 years of marriage.

Marty took me to Red Lobster for dinner Saturday. I had the endless shrimp. Ate 15 breaded and 30 buttered shrimp, a baked potato, salad and numerous garlic cheese biscuits. Sunday we went to a local truck stop for lunch. I had Shrimp Alfredo, first time ever. Loved the noodles and the 12 shrimp but didn't really like the alfredo sauce. 57 shrimp in two days, is that a good thing?
