Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Mom-in-Law

This is my mom-in-law today during my last visit with her before she moves to Sacramento. She is of mixed emotions with the move; happy to be going to Sacramento since she is a gypsy at heart unable to stay in one place for longer than six years before feeling the angst of needing a new place, but sad to leave Tacoma where she spent ten years with her husband who recently passed on, scared about moving to a new life without dad by her side.

Marty is driving her to Sacramento with her treasures loaded in the van, among other things that we have no idea why they are there. A plastic lawn chair that can be bought at any store for a few dollars while mom grieves over having to leave behind a pretty shower curtain. She is moving to her daughter's home that is completely furnished, there is no need to bring along a shower curtain just because it is pretty, no need for the lawn chair. There is no sentimental value attached to such items other than mom wants them. What in the heck are in the multitude of boxes that fill the van so full there is no room for Marty's travel bag?

I have an odd feeling about the drive to Sacramento and will be up at 5AM Monday to go through the load in the van and make sure all is secure. It is a rare occassion when my odd feelings are wrong.
