Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

S/O "Sutures Out"

Tonight I removed the sutures from my dog bite. Marty tried to help, but couldn't grasp the ends of the threads. I think he was slightly squeamish with the task in addition to not wanting to hurt me.

Help was not necessary. The medical clinic we use for on the job injuries is what we call "Doc in the Box". The Dr. that cared for my wounds was a butcher while suturing, yet ten days later I view him as a person just learning to sew and unsure of thread tension and knot tieing.

My sutures had come untied, hanging on with only one knot I could have untied myself if I had two hands. The thread running through the wound was so loose I simply inserted the scissor tip underneath and snipped.

After removing sutures from animals at the Vet. clinic and seeing great skin fusion, I can professionally say my wound fusion is sloppy. I will lose a lot of skin, but on the happy note...my thumb still works.

Diego, the dog that bit me, is scheduled for his ear crop reroll and sutures out on Wednesday. I have asked others to be on hand for his appointment because I prefer to not hold him for his procedure.
