Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Premonitions

Last Monday I told everyone at Kitty Haven to be prepared for a broken kitty because I had a feeling we would get one soon. They didn't believe me.

This is Teddy Bear, the name a client gave her. We plan on changing it. The toes on her front foot were broken and the owner didncouldn't afford to fix them, so she released Teddy to Kitty Haven. This photo shows Teddy after having the broken bones aligned. She will be in a splint for the next four weeks. Teddy isn't at all disturbed with her injury, running around while sliding her splinted leg in front of her like a sled and letting us know she is a lap cat by loudly meowing to be held. She is 3.5 months old. She arrived last Friday.

This is Emmy, a stray brought to us with an ear hematoma. She is 8 months, older than we normally take in but she needed medical help. We had her spayed at the same time as her ear surgery. She arrived last Tuesday.

This is Holiday, a 9 week old kitten from another clinic whose client couldn't afford care. The photo shows that Holiday has a weird mouth. This was taken after surgery. Holiday had a split upper lip and her chin was degloved. She had surgery today to suture the split and apply wires to put her chin skin back in place. Holiday already has someone interested in adopting her. She arrived Wednesday.

I thought we were due for a broken kitty, but we received three. I have been told to keep my premonitions to myself.
