Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

The Three Stooges

Work Friday was even paced, calm even with the emergencies, but a three stooges day.

The Assistants Mabeline and Dora were so scatter brained that just the two of them were more than enough to comprise the Three Stooges.

Mabeline got hurt (again) because she holding a dog wrong. No matter how many times she has been told and shown the proper way to restrain an animal her brain just doesn't grasp it. I rushed in to grab the dog who was jumping around snapping his teeth at Mabelline and Dora. As I was trying to get the dog under control, I told Dora to move away from the dog's mouth. Sitting on the floor, she just pulled her head back a little, but didn't get up and move.

This was a ninety pound dog, jumping and snapping and Dora just sat there. I had to yank the dog to the other side of the room because Dora wouldn't move and Mabeline also sat on the floor crying, totally oblivious to the danger.

They put themselves, the dog, the Technician and me in jeopordy because their heads were up their butts instead of being alert on the job. Such things are an all too common occurrence. We train them over and over and then again, but still things are not sinking into their brains.

This is Mabeline's second month of work and she has already been hurt twice because she did not follow instructions. It's time for a serious conversation with the Office Manager, Hospital Director and Lead Technician.
