Annie Annabelle
Annie stayed a few days at the Vet. clinic we use, not eating. We thought being in a home environment would help her feel more comfortable so Annie came home with me. Still didn't eat and became more depressed as each day passed.
I took her to the vet. clinic for care. The blood tests showed a problem with the liver, most likely due to her not eating. Annie was stubborn and would not eat and spit out what we force fed her. So she had surgery to insert a feeding tube into her stomach. While inside the abdomen, the Dr. took a look around and said all her organs appeared normal.
That was two weeks ago and Annie still refuses to eat on her own. She is tube fed five times a day, but throws it up because she gets stressed. She holds her food down only when I feed her which is only twice each day. I work two days a week at the clinic, but am there every day to feed Annie her 10AM and 1PM feeding.
Annie has been on the tube feeding and IV fluids for two weeks now and has gained weight, but still refuses to eat on her own and her blood tests are worse than when she first arrived. Everyone is at a loss of what to do and how to help her.
She has no underlying health problem or disease, she just won't eat and won't allow her body to accept the nutrients we are giving her through her tube feeding unless I am the one that gives it. I can't bring her home for the five times a day feeding because she is also receiving IV fluids to keep her hydrated.
It is as if she has a suicide wish.
Annie Annabelle when she was a baby.
