Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Olympia

I took in a new kitten at Kitty Haven.

Sunday I received a call from Ruth who was looking for a rescue group who could take a broken kitten.

Story: Ruth saw two kittens in a yard, one was dragging her hind leg behind her. Ruth knocked on the door and asked the homeowner about the kittens. Turned out the kitties belonged to the homeowner, she was aware of the dragging leg and didn't know if the kitten "was hit by a car or kicked too hard by my husband this time".

Ruth removed the kittens from that home, with the owner's permission.

The kittens were immediately taken to Olympia's Emergency Animal Hospital.

The one dubbed "Licorice" has a broken rear leg. The other kitten was immediately adopted by a Vet. Tech. and will live a life in a very loving home.

Licorice had surgery Monday to pin her bones together. She did fine and was brought to Kitty Haven Wednesday evening. Licorice is too common of a name for an all black kitty, so I changed her name to Olympia.

Olympia is five months old and despite her abuse, is very friendly and meows to be held and cuddled. Everyone at Kitty Haven has already fallen in love with her. She will be on cage rest for three weeks, in six weeks her pins come out and her prognosis looks good. She might have a slightly gimp leg for life, but it won't affect her health or well-being.

Ruth, the rescuer, paid for everything. What an angel.
