Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Magpie

This is Magpie, born in our home May 2003. Her mother S'More had six kittens, three who died at four months of age due to liver defects. S'More died the following year with guess what? Yep, liver defects. Magpie's brother Maynard Gibbs was the only healthy one and was adopted to his lifelong home.

Magpie was always sickly, always thin no matter how much she ate and she had a severe case of asthma that she took daily medicine for. This past Saturday Magpie was lethargic with very shallow breathing. Her poor tired lungs couldn't handle the asthma any longer and I knew it was time to say goodbye. She was euthanized Saturday morning.

She will be greatly missed. She was such a loving cat and what a purr she had! We could hear her purr from the other room. We had 4 1/2 years with Magpie, she lived much longer than either of us expected.

This is Mojo, Magpie's brother. He had a deformed femur head so when just a baby, he had surgery to remove the head. His leg healed fine although he limps sometimes. He is like Magpie; thin, just never really thrived. Mojo seems to miss his sister and I hope grief doesn't cause him to become sick. Magpie and Mojo have always been extra special to us.
