Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Busy With Kitties

It has been a busy week with rescue kitties. We received a very young female nursing four babies, ten days old. They are fostering with me. Mama is very sweet and takes good care of her babies because all are fat and healthy. I will post pictures as I take them. By the way, mom and all the babies are black. We have black kittens much longer than others...black kitties are hard to find homes for.

We also received Dude, actually named Deuteronimus, Dude for short. He is quite a character, four months old. Here he is all dressed up for his photo.

We had three kittens spayed, one neutered plus a dual eye enucleation for kitty Vlad. He woke up last Sunday with an eye infection. The medication did not have time to take effect and Monday both eyes ruptured. He had surgery to remove what was left. Vlad, our eyeless kitten is doing great and running around like a kitty who doesn't know he is blind. Vlad's foster home adopted him.

In addition to mama kitty and her babies here at home isolated from the others, we also have three foster siblings...Louden, Martha and Rufus. They are three months old and still so tiny they aren't ready for adoption yet. Those three have really brought out the playful side of our older cats. I don't know if the older cats are trying to teach the youngsters or if they see them as big mice to play with. If you want to laugh all day, add a kitten to your family.
