Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

My Day Off

I was up at 11AM today, much earlier than previous days and yep, still felt like crap with this cold. I answered a phone call and my coughing was so bad the caller said she would call later.

I didn't dare answer the phone when the NDART official called for my interview because I didn't want to cough his ear off. NDART is the National Disaster Animal Rescue Team, a part of the national Humane Society who sends teams of people into disaster areas to rescue pets and animals.

I didn't do any chores today or anything productive other than grocery shopping for soup ingredients and made a big pot of vegetable beef soup. It turned out not as good as my normal soups...kind of went overboard on the thyme because I couldn't smell or taste it until the pot had simmered for several hours. Even with the extra thyme, the soup tasted decent. At least as well as my diminished taste buds could determine.

My butt has to get in gear and catch up on everything I am so far behind with. It would be great to channel all the energy wasted with coughing into something more productive. Wow, my house would be super clean.

As much as I love my job, I really do not want to go back to work and would love to just sleep for two, three, maybe four days.

On a happier note, Jayne and Jeff are losing sleep cooing over their little baby Kurt who seems to have his cutest faces between 11PM and 1AM.
