Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Dora Helped

Don't be mislead by the title of this post. Dora was her usual snail, sluggish dumbo self at work today.

This morning I did basic grooming on Bo, a Samoyed. Long matted fur, but fortunately his owner said she wanted a very short haircut. I did the initial clipping of all the long hair and left him prepped for the actual groomer's fine tuning.
There was lots to do as Vet. Assistant; surgery packs to clean and sterilize, dirty kennels, laundry, but Dora stood around just chatting. So when the groomer asked if I wanted to finalize Bo, I jumped at the opportunity and left Dora with the mess.

Hey, don't fault me...Dora does little when I am there because she knows me to be the conscientious person that I am who will clean all the mess and get things ready for the Drs. What a surprise to her when I leaped over to grooming and left all that to her.

Bo needed his feet trimmed, the initial shave evened out and his head and face scissored. I was nervous since it was my first finishing groom job. I left the face and head to the groomer and actually did only one foot, but I learned a lot. This is a Samoyed in full splendor:

Although the groomer said I did a great job, I think I botched it and sent Bo home looking like this:

Bo's owner was happy with his new hairdo, so my first start-to-finish groom job was a success even though I did only the one foot.
Dora helped by being her lazy self and making me perturbed enough to do the grooming and leave all the Asst. catch-up work to her. I spent an hour with Bo and during that time, Dora did nothing except fold one surgical gown and clean one pack. Oops, I'm wrong...she also spent time to pick out and eat eight chocolates from the candy box although "I'm on a diet and need to stay away from sugars". She always eats the majority of the free food and candy.

Yeah, I could have stayed and helped, but NOT. I work as needed and I wasn't needed because Dora was there perfectly capable of doing the job. I don't work extra hours to cover for laziness.
