Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Friday

Today was an okay day at work even with the major surgery on Milo, a very fat Pomeranian. The surgery consisted of removing the gall bladder, a foreign object in the stomach and neutering. The dog was very sickly to begin with, eight years old and we all kept our fingers crossed that he would survive surgery.

I assisted, not something I usually do so the fiasco with trying to glove up made everyone laugh. I put on the hair net and mask, scrubbed up and gowned correctly. But putting on the gloves was hilarious. Fortunately the Tech. helped me after having to toss one pair of gloves. It's not easy to stay sterile while trying to fit your fingers into latex gloves.

It's okay to laugh at my attempt, but try it yourself and break into a sweat like I did.

With my mask on and my breathing, my glasses fogged up. But I assisted perfectly and Milo came through surgery very well and woke up a short time later with no complications.

The foreign object in Milo's stomach was a round rubber thing much like a door stop. His owner had no idea where it came from.

Of course Ima stood around with her hands in pockets and watched a few minutes of the surgery but asked no questions because she is a know it all. Today's gall bladder removal was the first in my ten years experience, but Ima had no interest in it.

Such a rare surgery and Ima isn't interested. She will be a very poor Vet. Technician.
