What a Day
Working her ass off should not require other employees clocking in early the morning after her night shift to do the nightly chores she failed to do or to reclean what she considered clean enough. We are a hospital and "clean enough" is not good enough. Trickle's cleanliness and disinfection standards were way below what we require.
My gosh, if her poor work performance and laziness is what she considers as working her ass off during a probationary period, what the heck type of employee would she be after her probation? Uh-uh, we're not going to put up with such disregard. We pride ourselves on having a clean and strictly disinfected hospital.
I am sorry she lost her job, but we are not a charity who pays someone just for being there without actually doing any work. Allowing Trickle to continue employment with us would jeopordize the pets and patients due to sloppy or no disinfection and our hospital areas would be unkept and messy during her shift.
I hate parts of my job and dreaded having to fire her. I'm so very glad the deed is done and I no longer have to stress over it. What the termination means for me are longer hours and only Sundays off until another Asst. is hired and trained. Oh well, did it before, can do it again.
