Steph's Glass is Half Full

Optimistic (and often pessimistic) raves and rants about the many things that can go wrong with an old house, cats who leave me hairballs each day, a job I love but get burned out with and my wonderful husband who I at times, want to hiss at. Also included are my yays and nays about my travels into the world when performing necessary tasks such as grocery shopping, being thrown together with complete strangers, thrown together with strangers and their strangeness.

Marty Update, Saturday

Today Marty got out of bed by himself, walked a short distance with the aid of his walker and went up/down three stairs. He joined the other patients of "Joint Camp" for lunch and group exercises. As Marty's coach for his recovery I was included in the lunch (pretty darn good tasting) and the gourmet dinner of pepper steak, red potatoes, even wine.

Joint Camp is a program for hip and knee replacement patients offered by the hospital. I can see how it really helps educate patients and assist in their post-op pain and questions. One man in Marty's camp group had both knees replaced, one woman had a hip replaced after having her knees done a few years ago. Another woman had a knee replacement in February and was in this time for a hip. The two women are doing great with their past knee surgeries. That was very encouraging for the newbies such as Marty.

When Marty comes home we are going to have a problem with keeping the cats off his leg. Any ideas on how to provide cushioning until the incision heals and the staples come out?
